Discussion questions from pages 67-85 (or 1923-1927):

1. Do you think Eva loved her children? Why or why not?

2. Do you think Hannah was satisfied with the response Eva gave for why she killed Plum? Were you?

3. Sula watched her mother burn to death. Did the fear paralyze her or was she interested like Eva said?

4. Jude pressed Nel about getting married because he wanted to take on a man's role. Do you think men today share his feelings?
